Bull River Guest Ranch is perfect for family vacations to relax, executive retreats to connect, rustic weddings to bring everyone together, or a getaway to explore. Because we have so many activities to choose from, our guests, family reunions, and groups never get bored! We have so many all-weather activities to enjoy, you just want to stay another week to fit them all in.

Hot Tubs & Sauna

We offer our guests the use of two hot tubs and a sauna. The hot tubs are located on the deck of a new log building which houses a sauna, showers, washroom and our laundry facilities. Your soak in the hot tub is enhanced by the pristine beauty of the area and the mighty Bull Mountain.

Petting Zoo

It’s not spring without baby animals and other farm fun, so grab your kiddos and get ready to oohh and ahhh over furry and feathered friends. At the ranch we have chickens, goats, miniature ponies, and plenty of other furry friends for you and your kids to meet and learn all about.

Playground & Sports

We’ve equipped the ranch with plenty of recreational opportunities, from beach volleyball, to horseshoe tossing, to playing at the playground on the swing sets. Bring a soccer ball, frisbee, or football to bring your family and friends together while getting active and having fun.

Hiking & Walking Trails

Take hiking at your own pace. Explore serene and private trails in the Bull River Valley and Mirror Lake. You can get even more out of your time in the wild by booking a guided nature hike with one of our team so you can learn about the valley and its populating flora and fauna.

Ice Fishing

No need to stay inside during the long winter months waiting for the sun to come out and dreaming about open water. Be adventurous, bundle up, bring your equipment, and enjoy fishing in a whole new way--through the ice! Murray/Mirror Lake can be reached by hiking about 45 minutes.

Non-Motor Water Sports

Murray/Mirror Lake can be reached by hiking about 45 minutes from our ranch. Once you're there, you'll see why it is called Mirror Lake. Bring your own equipment to enjoy paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, and swimming at this quiet lake nestled away in the Bull River Valley.

Feature Excursion

- Little Sand -

The Bull River Guest Ranch is located 11 km away from a BC jewel: Little Sand. Little Sand is a popular area for snowmobiling, downhill skiing and snowboarding in the winter, and hiking, quading and dirt biking in the summer. The best part? Our ranch is close enough that groups can head down the road to Little Sand by sled… right from our location.

On the Bull River road, our ranch is located at km 17, Little Sand is at the km 6 turn off.

Hunting Tours

While there is no hunting directly on the ranch, experienced guides in the area offer tours for hunting elk, grizzly & black bears, white-tailed & mule deer, mule-deer, shiras moose, rocky mountain goats & bighorn sheep, cougars, linx, bobcats, and wolves.

Mountain & Fat Tire Biking

Bring your bikes to enjoy extensive trails around Bull River. Mountain biking has become a year-round sport in the valley with the addition of fat biking during the snowy months. Mountain bike season begins late April and goes right to the end of October when fat tire season begins.

River Floating

Gliding down the river at a laid back pace will allow you to relax and soak up the scenery around you. If a peaceful, leisurely float down the river sounds like it’s more your speed, you’ll love floating on the Elk River. We are happy to advise you of guides in the area.

Fly Fishing

The Elk Valley and Bull River offer one of the most stunning fly destinations in the world. Fishing Seasons: Rivers/Streams open June 15th till March 30th, lakes open year-round.

Motosports

While there are no trails on the ranch, the Bull River area is fast becoming one of the best places to ride a dirt bike or ATV in British Columbia. Not far from the ranch is Koocanusa, a large open play area in the Koocanusa reservoir, and the renowned Little Sand location only 35 minutes away.

Sledding

While there are no sledding trails on the ranch, snowmobiling trails in the area offer an excellent place for snowmobilers to have an unforgettable adventure. There is virtually no limit to the amount of sledding fun that awaits—from groomed trails to rugged alpine areas.

Fernie Ski & Snowboarding

With Fernie Alpine Resort 45 minutes away, and Kimberley Resort 1 hour away, take your pick of big snowfalls and extensive terrain, from easy green runs to double blacks!

Golfing

The ranch is surrounded by beautiful golf courses for all levels of expertise. Courses in the area include: Jaffray Golf Course, Wildstone Golf Course, Cranbrook Golf Club, Shadow Mountain, Bootleg Golf Course, St Eugene, Fernie Golf Club.

Heli Tours

Tour the valley to get a bird’s eye view directly from the Ranch. Get dropped off in the alpine for backcountry skiing, biking, hiking or fishing. Big Horn Helicopters from Cranbrook BC have a highly skilled crew ready for your adventure.

Cat Skiing

For your next ski run, enjoy a heated cozy cabin equipped with drinks, lunch and snacks that climbs up the mountain. Ski or snowboard pristine powder alongside Grizzly Basin or Island Lake Lodge.

White Water Adventures

The spectacular Elk River and Bull River offer excellent white water experiences for those looking for a playful, big water run. The Bull River is about a 45 minute drive outside of Fernie, heading towards Cranbrook.

Cliff Jumping

Swim and cliff jump at Silver Springs in Elko. This swimming hole offers jumps off 10-30 ft rocks with plenty of areas to suntan and relax. With several other cliff jumping spots in the area, you’re sure to get your adrenaline up while you cool down.
